Delta Police Foil Cult Initiation Activities In Okpanam, Burst Cultists’ Hideout In Oghara, Arrest 31

On Saturday, operatives of the Delta State Anti-Cult Unit, (SACU), acted on a tip-off and were able to foil initiation of new members to a cult group, Aye confraternity, scheduled to take place at Okpanam.

According to a statement by the Police PRO, Bright Edafe, the Commander, SACU, SP Christopher Igbaja, mobilized men to a nearby bush at Obogba village, Okpanam where the initiation was to take place, adding that fifteen (15) male suspects and one (1) female suspect were arrested.

A Toyota Camry car was recovered and investigation is in progress.

In a related development, operatives of SACU acting on credible information, on Friday raided a notorious cultist hideout in Oghara, where fifteen (15) suspected cultists were arrested and raps of substance suspected to be cocaine recovered.

Meanwhile, the police in ‘A’ Division, Warri under CSP T.Y. Mahmud have recovered a serviceable G 3 rifle with No. ET77645 with fifteen (15) rounds of live ammunition.

According to Edafe, these were recovered behind an uncompleted building used as a worship center at Warri/Sapele road by the garage opposite Wema Bank, suspected to have been hidden by men of the underworld to aid of their nefarious activities.

A manhunt for those suspected to have hidden the rifle is ongoing.
