Delta State Attorney-General, Mrakpor Honours Association Of Delta North College Of Bishops

The Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has lauded religious leaders for their modest contributions towards the peaceful stability and support for the state government
through spiritual intercessions.

Mrakpor, who made the commendation in Asaba, the Delta State capital during a reception party he organised for the Association of Delta North College of Bishops, said: “I decided to honour them for their consistent prayers since i became their Legal Adviser which had paid off through my emergence as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.”

He recalled: “It had been my heart desire to become a Senior Advocate of Nigeria since I was called to Bar in December 19, 1989.”

The Justice Commissioner appreciated the State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, for giving him the platform to render services especially in the area of dispensation of justice in the state.

He stated that 172 applied for the Senior Advocate of Nigeria out of which 72 were successful, adding that his appointment as SAN was an act of God, just as he said that he encountered several challenges including unnecessary petitions to bring him down by certain unscrupulous elements.

The State Attorney-General, who extended his gratitude to the Judges of the Delta State judiciary for their overwhelming support before and during his struggle to attain the position of SAN, noted that apart from being recognised with the appointment, “it had also been one of my topmost priorities to become a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration.”

He said: “The recognition as a SAN would continue to inspire me to render more services for the betterment of the state and the society in general.”

Mrakpor, however, reiterated that Delta Central Senatorial District had benefitted immensely from  massive projects just  like other parts of the state under the Okowa administration. 

Earlier, in his response on behalf of the association, Bishop (Engr) Onyeka Agbabi, who noted that the association was designed to promote the unity and spiritual growth of the state as well as the advancement of government development, commended  Mr. Mrakpor for his outstanding contributions to the association over time.

Bishop Agbabi, pledged the association’s continued prayers for the State Attorney-General.

Earlier in a short sermon, Bishop Clement Ifeanyi Ogumu, said that peace was an important element for the development of any society, stressing that notwithstanding the challenges and obstacles one could face, God would always provide the needed peace at the right time.

The religious leader stated that in every aspect of one’s life, peace was required to enable them succeed in life, stressing that when peace is lacked in any society, confusion takes the centre stage, even as he urged all and sundry to embrace peace at all times.
