JUST IN: Protesting Ogwashi-Uku Poly Students Shutdown Campus Over Alleged Extortion
Thousands of students of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, have shut-down the school, blocking the school gate over alleged extortion by the school authority, led by the Rector, Prof. (Mrs.) Stella Chiemeka, Fresh Angle International reports.
The students who were still at the school gate as at 10.20am today, Wednesday March 24, reportedly stormed the school gate 7.00am today with placards bearing various inscriptions, accusing the school authority of extortion.
One of the protesting students, who spoke to Your Soaring International Tabloid on condition of anonymity, mentioned the imposition of seven thousand naira (N7,000.00) levy as cost of registration for ‘Computer Certification’, a course the school Rector allegedly introduced as compulsory for all OND2 and HND2 students, barely a month to their graduation from the Delta State owned polytechnic.
The student, who is in HND2 Mass Communication, alleged that she and her colleagues had been suffering all forms of intimidation and extortion from school management right from when they did their OND programme.

As at the time of this report, the protesting students vowed not to vacate the school gate, until they get a firm commitment from the Rector, Prof. (Mrs.) Stella Chiemeka that the alleged extortion would stop immediately.
