Let Transparency, Accountability Be Your Guiding Principle, Orodje Charges Okpe Youth Council Executive

The monarch of Okpe kingdom in Delta state, His Royal Majesty The Orodje of Okpe kingdom, Major Gen Felix Mujakperuo retd, has charged the new executive officers of Okpe Youth Council (OYC) to allow transparency and accountability to be their watchword.

The royal father who played host to members of OYC who were sworn in recently in his palace, said that the only way they could be successful in their new regime, is to be very accountable to the people at all times.

He advised them to consult widely with all stakeholders within and outside the kingdom before they embark on any activity so that they could avoid any possible mistake.

The royal father who gave his blessings to all the newly inaugurated executive officers, prayed that Almighty God grant them the wisdom and good health to lead their people very well.

He encouraged them further to operate an open door policy of administration by carrying everybody along and as well give all the youths in each of the communities of Okpe kingdom, a sense of belonging.

The Immediate past President of Okpe Youth Council, Comrade Harrison Okpako Ekeleme, who led the team to the palace at Orerokpe, told the monarch that they were in his palace for a former introduction of the new excos.

The new President, Mr Otomewo Israel, expressed their profound appreciation to the monarch for the audience given to them to visit the palace on such a familiarization tour, assuring that they the new excos will not betray the confidence reposed in them.

In another development, the President, Comrade Otomewo Israel who was also at the premises of SEPLAT OIL COMPANY operating in Sapele Local Government Area with his excos, charged the protesting workers to be peacful and calm.

The president told the aggrieved workers that immediately they got the news of the protest, they immediately swung into action by mobilizing to the company to calm the protesters.

He said: “I appreciate the efforts of the workers. It is in line with our demands. Any company operating within our communities, must do so within the laws of the land. What you are doing today, is not out of place. You are protesting for your rights.”

“In your protest, please be very peaceful and law abiding. Okpe kingdom is a peaceful one. We love one another. We do not create problems. We wade in and settle problems amicably immediately as they arise. That is what we have come now to do. Please continue your protest peacefully until your demands are met,” he added.

He pointed further that “it has been signed into law by the Delta State House of Assembly that any company operating within a locality must meet the needs of its work force. I am very convinced that the management of SEPLAT will do the needful by settling every issue peacefully.”
