A chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State and a guber candidate on the platform of the party in the 2019 elections, Sir Ohwo Benson Oghotoma(OBO) has called on security agencies in the state to arrest the sacked state chairman of the party, Amb. Amb Idawene Oke Hezx.

Sir Oghotoma who spoke to journalists said the call for the arrest of the immediate past chairman became necessary because he was fomenting trouble in the party which could lead to a breakdown of law and order because he has continued to parade himself as the chairman of the party in the state despite his removal.

His words: “I call on security agencies to arrest Amb Idawene Oke Hezx Chairman of SDP Delta, should he continue to parade himself as the State Chairman of the party.”

According to him, “his continuous impersonation will land him in prison. I call on the public not to pay party nomination form to him as the person will be denied.”

Recall that Idewane was replaced by Austin Okakor. But, he is yet to relinquish power which has left many split and identifying the choice of who they consider as the chairman of the party.

This crisis resulted in the poor performance of the party in the just concluded council elections.

Observers hope that the matter will be resolved soonest and peace restored to the once bubbling party.

Meanwhile, SDP will participate in the forthcoming bye election in Isoko North as aspirants are already jostling to be candidates.
