Vocational Education Programmes Kick Off At Teachers Professional Development Centre, Owa-Oyibu

Vocational education programmes have commenced at the Delta State Vocational Education Centre, in Ika North-East Centre.

The Administrator of the Centre, Mr. James Onyebadi made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Oya-Oyibu, Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the programme has been structured into various departments in order to meet the demands of the candidates.

He added that the centre has kicked off with six basic departments which he highlighted to include: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Electrical Installation, Tailoring, Catering, Hair dressing and Barbing.

He said that the Vocational Education Centre was located within the premises of the Teacher’s Professional Development Centre Owa-Oyibu, adding that the institution was currently enrolling candidates into her programmes.

Mr Onyabadi said that the enrollment form cost the some of sum of One Thousand Naira (#1000 ) while the training fee was was Six Thousand Naira (#6000) respectively, stressing that the programme would last for six months.

He also stated that the Centre would run two batches within one year, explaining that “the programme is designed to run continuously”.

The Administrator said that knowledgeable instructors were readily on ground to take on the programme, just as he maintained that the programme was meant for both the formal and non – formal sectors.

Mr. Onyebadi stated that the programme was targeted at equipping the youths with relevant skills in order to get them out of the street and be meaningfully engaged.
