Just In: Water Hyacinth Takes Over Arhavwarien River In Delta

One of the said to be fastest growing aquatic weed floating plant, Water Hyacinth has taken over the Arhavwarien River in Ugheli South Local Government Area, Delta State.

The Arhavwarien River which the water Hyacinth has impacted heavily on Is the major access to the Arhavwarien Clan that has been suffering from lack of bridge access to the island kingdom which is also agrarian and rich in oil and gas in the state.

The Ovie of Arhavwarien Kingdom His Royal Majesty, Solomon Akporhiere Onajeta,Okukenren 111, while expressing dismay over the water Hyacinth blocking the already difficult access to his Kingdom as well as lack of easy navigation by his subjects going and coming to do business in the area, the Okukenren 111 appealed to Delta state government and relevant agencies to come to the area and help remove the water Hyacinth by taking it off the river in order to allow free access into the community.

The Arhavwarien monarch stressed the need for urgent government consideration and approval of Arhavwarien bridge linking his domain, noting that with the construction of bridge to the kingdom, his subjects pain passing through the polluted river that has destroyed aquatic lives would be a thing of the past.

His Majesty Okukenren 111 added that the only way to avert the continuous free floating of the water plant is to continuously carry out skimming of the Arhavwarien river which serves as source of livelihood to the people.
