Adamawa State police command has reiterated its stand to ensure that the son of late President Umar Yaradua, Aminu Yaradua has his day in court for killing four pedestrians and injuring two in a fatal road accident in Yola.

Aminu Yaradua, himself escaped death by the whiskers when angry mob descended on him for his unremorseful mien despite being responsible for an accident that led to the death of four including a toddler and left two others hospitalized on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at Sabon Pegi suburb of Yola by-pass.

The prompt intervention of policemen to the scene of the accident, saved Yaradua who is an off-campus student of American University of Nigeria (AUN) from being lynched to death himself.

Reports by FACT-CHECKNEWS.COM indicated that after being rescued, the son of the late president was handed over to the authorities of AUN who promptly took him to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the mob action.

Findings by this paper revealed that five weeks after the accident, Yaradua was yet to be handed over to the police authorities to face appropriate charges.

Sources in the school told our reporter that Yaradua has been discharged from the medical facility where he received treatment, although this paper could not independently verify the claim.

But asserting the readiness of the police to ensure dispensation of justice, the state command has disclosed that it has sent a reminder to the school authorities to present the student for prosecution.

“The Adamawa State police command has been keenly following events and has put a reminder to the school authorities to produce the student for prosecution.

“The police is seriously concerned about this particular issue because lives of law abiding citizens are involved.

“So we will do our best to ensure that justice is done, regardless of the social background of the student,” the state police command’s spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje said.
