Aniagwu Resumes As Information Commissioner In Delta

Mr. Charles Aniagwu has again assumed duty as the Delta State Commissioner for Information, following his reappointment and swearing in by the state governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa.

Addressing staff of the ministry and the various agencies under the administrative purview of the ministry at the conference hall of the ministry in Asaba, the state capital, Mr. Aniagwu urged for greater commitment in the discharge of the mandates of the ministry.

He said that there was the need to robustly publicise the policy thrust of the state government, adding the state government had positively transformed the state in all ramifications of development which, he said, should be widely published against the propagandist pursuit of detractors of the Okowa Administration.

He said that Governor Okowa had proven himself to be a man of integrity, who lived up to his word, adding that there was the need for the ministry and all the agencies under it to beef up their activities as the 2023 approached.

The commissioner noted that the Okowa Administration was not only interested in one sided reporting, but should be properly carried out for the purpose of informing the government about what the people wanted to be done in some areas.

“ we will as a government stay very focused, to ensure that people participate in governance through the tripartite of getting their views, and taking the views of government and the projects of government back to them,” he said.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Paul Osahor, welcomed back the commissioner from “ his short leave”, describing the reappointment of Mr. Aniagwu as a commissioner as well deserved.

He stated that the staff in the ministry and the different agencies under it were ready to cooperate with and give him the needed support, adding that the commissioner’s appeal for integrity and efficiency to work would be their watchword in the discharge of their duties.

There were progress reports of activities from the ministry and different agencies.
