Family, Friends Mark Overah’s One-Year Remembrance, Pa Overah For Burial August

Eminent Deltans and family on Sunday, July 25, 2021, gathered at St Martin’s Catholic Church in Sapele, Delta State, to mark Late Hon Joyce Overah, former House of Representatives member’s one year anniversary since he passed away after a brief illness last year.

Hon Joyce Overah, former House of Representatives member and Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West in the board, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2020

The late Commissioner’s family in a press release, informed the public that the family will be at the church at 8:30am with a requiem service to honour the late politician who was a great and visionary leader during his lifetime.

Foremost businessman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Festus Pemu, described Overah “as a visionary leader whose immense contributions to the development of Delta State cannot be forgotten.”

Pemu said the legacy the late Overah left behind would continue to live in the minds of Deltans.

In her remarks, Mrs. Anthonia Overah, said that her late husband was “a nice, kind hearted and loving man.”

“I still remember him as if he is still alive. I will never, never forget him as long as I live,” she added.

She, however, urged Deltans to emulate the good virtues of her late husband for the development of the State.

Mr Frank Nujimen described the late Overah as a visionary leader who always had the interest of Deltans at heart during his life time.

Mr Remi Ogungbamila who spoke in the same vein said that the late DESOPADEC Commissioner “was a great and visionary leader who always thinks about the problems of the State and how to make his quota count.

“There was never a dull moment with him,” he added.

Mrs Oghenetega Honey Overah, the politician’s second wife said her husband was not only a nice person, he was a man who was a total husband to her, and father to the children, adding that it will be very difficult and impossible to forget him.

Mrs Honey Overah said that, the legacy her husband left behind was imperishable, insisting it is only God that has seen the family through this bad period.

Little Obaro Overah, second son of the late politician, said his father was a loving and highly devoted family man, adding that he really missed his daddy.

Those who were on ground to grace the remembrance of the late politician include Mr Anthony Uba, Mrs Nakpodia Joyce, Evangelist Mrs Mary Diden and Lady Joyce Jemirheri.

Others are Mr Martins Emakpor, Mr Endurance Ikanone, Mr Simon Biokoro, Mr Uti Ambrose and a host of other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, Pa Joshua Harvest Overah JP, father of the late DESOPADEC commissioner, will be buried on the 20th of August, 2021.

A statement by the family said the funeral service will hold at Bethel Baptist Church, Sapele, while the interment will follow immediately at his country home in Elume village, Sapele.

Also, Service of Songs for Pa Overah will hold on Wednesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 19 at Bethel Baptist Church, Sapele and Papa Overah’s compound, Ghana, Ghana, Sapele, respectively.

Pa Overah died at age 87.
