Unauthorised Installation Of Outdoor Bill Boards Stops In Warri
By Enite Igere
The era of indiscriminate installation of unauthorised billboards in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has come to an end.
The Functioning Managing Director, Delta State Signage and Advertising Agency (DESAA), Barr Ben Adigwe, gave the indication during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Warri to harmonise and regulate the outdoor advertising sector in the locality.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief Operations Officer in DESAA and Managing Director, SVL Global Enterprise, consultants to DESAA, Mr. Victor Umoh stated that the meeting became necessary as a result of the influx of substandard billboards in the area.
He stated that it was necessary to return Warri to its pride of place in outdoor advertising in the country, pointing out the dangers of having substandard and unapproved billboards to include the possibility of sudden collapse that may cause injuries to pedestrians.
Mr. Umoh also stated that the installation of unapproved billboards in the locality had led to the loss of revenue to the state government, just as he asked all who intended to practice in the council to ensure they register with the agency and ensure they followed the guidelines in installing billboards.
