Military Reopens Warri North Waterways

The Military has reopened the waterways in the Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, barely 24 hours after the Koko fish traders protested over the blockade in the locality.

The fish traders, who had earlier invaded the Warri North Council Secretariat to register their displeasure over the blockade, now have cause to smile as the hope to return to their fish trading has been restored.

This, however, took the intervention of Honourable Smart Asekutu, Chairman of the council, who was on an official assignment during the protest, to ensure the relaxation of the restriction of movement on the waterways.

The council boss in a statement said that the welfare of his constituents was of great importance to his administration and as such had taken necessary steps to ease the stress the traders faced during the period of the blockade.

The traders have since expressed their gratitude to the council chairman for his expedite action on the issue, while also thanking the leadership of the military in the locality for  their collaboration in reopening the waterways.
