JUST IN: Bauchi Polytechnic Chief Engineer Murdered At Home
The Chief Engineer of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Abubakar Garba Muhammad, has been killed at his residence in Burshin Fulani area along Bauchi-Dass road in the state.
Daily Trust reports that gunmen were said to have invaded his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
A neighbour of the deceased, who was also attacked, is currently being treated at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH), Bauchi.
In a statement, the management of the institution confirmed the tragic incident, saying burial plans were ongoing.
The statement read, “Innalillahi Wainnailaihi Rajiun, Unknown Gunmen killed one of our staff, Chief Engineer, Abubakar Garba Muhammad (Babangida Birshi) of Directorate of Physical Planning around 2.30am at his residence in Burshin Fulani.

“His Funeral (Jana’iza) prayers as announced by the family will hold by 9.00am in Burshin Fulani Mosque behind his house. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grants his soul Jannatil Firdausi.”
The Spokesman of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, also confirmed the incident and said efforts were being made to track down the assailants.
Wakil said the victim, who was shot on the neck, died on the spot.
He added, “Our personnel rushed to the scene evacuated him to the teaching hospital, where medical doctors on duty certified him dead.”
Meanwhile, the incident has created panic among residents of Burshin Fulani.
Speaking with Daily Trust, one of the residents, Ibrahim Mohammed, said, “This attack has sparked serious fear in Burshin Fulani because we have never witnessed such ugly trend. We are appealing to authorities to beef up security in the area.”
