2021 Illori Youth Games: Team Delta Gears Up For Sixth Title

Team Delta is set to defend the sixth title of the National Youth Sports Festival tagged 2021 Illori Youth Games.
The Chairman of Delta state Sports Commission who doubles as the President of the Athletics Federation of NIgeria, AFN, Tonobok Okowa, will lead 540 athletes and the state contingents to participate in 34 sports including the new introduced shooting and traditional sports from October 10th to 19th in Kwara state.
Delta state who are often ahead of other states when it comes to sports preparation, organised a mini trial for her athletes which led to them topping the medals table at the end of the south-south zonal elimination, which took place at the Asaba, Stephen Keshi staduim some weeks ago.
Team Delta is known as the only winner of the youth games since its inception in 2013 till date winning all five editions outside Delta state.

Delta emerged champions of the 5th edition of the games with 41 gold, 32 silver, and 31 bronze medals, making it the 5th time the team won the fiesta.
Team Lagos, who made their second appearance at the edition after debuting in 2018, finished second with 22 gold, 36 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
The third position was claimed by Team Bayelsa with 17 gold, 6 silver, and 22 bronze medals.
