World Teachers Day: Teachers Are Role Models—Chukwuma

The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Post Primary Education Board ( PPEB), Mr. Augustine Chukwuma has described teachers as role models and key players in the development of any human society.
Mr. Chukwuma made the discription in Asaba while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the World Teachers Day celebration.
While saying that the World Teachers Day was set aside to appreciate the crucial role of teachers and their efforts at enhancing human capital development, Mr. Chukwuma emphasised that teachers should always be rewarded for their meaningful contribution towards the growth of the society.
The PPEB Permanent Secretary applauded Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for his administration’s strides in the education sector, adding that the governor had continued to redefine the system in a bid to improve the standard the education sector.
Mr. Chukwuma, who enjoined teachers especially public secondary school teachers to redouble their commitments in the area of effective teachings so that the students could maximise the benefits for the overall growth of the society.
He, however, lauded teachers for their value to the society, saying that teaching remained one of the few noble professions.

The Permanent Secretary advised them always take advantage of the Teachers Professional Development Centre (TPDC) , Owa-Oyibu in Ika North East Local Government Area built by the Okowa administration designed for the training and retraining of teachers.
Mr. Chukwuma urged teachers to desist from anything that could tarnish the image of the profession, adding that they should abstain from illegal collections in their schools.
