Google Removes Nigeria’s eNaira App From Playstore
Just 48 hours after its launch, the digital currency eNaira app is no longer available for download on Google Playstore.
On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the digital currency at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
When several Nigerians sought to download the new product on Wednesday evening, the app vanished.
There are hints, however, that the app has been updated to fulfill new criteria.
However, the Apple App Store still has the iOS version available.
Disappointed with the app’s removal from Google Play, some Nigerians accused the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of launching a “premature product” on the market.

The software had over 100,000 downloads before it was removed, with thousands of customers reporting about problems with the system.
Meanwhile, the eNaira Speed Wallet was still available for download on the Google Play store at the time of writing this report, with more than 10, 000 downloads recorded..
We cannot authoritatively confirm the reason for the swift removal of the app from the android apps platform. However, it is believed the removal of the eNaira app may have been connected from the series of negative reviews the app attracted from Nigerians who download and used the app.
It is instructive to note that Google always take cognizance of the reviews on each of the apps on the Play store platform and act appropriately.
For instance, if an app is found to pose security threats to users, it is always removed from the platform to ensure the security of users.
