The immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Delta State, Dr. Peter Mrakpor SAN, has distributed some educational materials to some public secondary schools in the state.

The materials were distributed through his media aide, Mr. Treasure Otiti, to the students of the Arhavwarien Grammar School and the Edjekota Secondary School in Ughelli South and North Local Government areas of the state respectively.

The former Justice Commissioner said that the gesture was not only to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the Nigerian Independence, but to lend a helping hand in the development of the education system in the state, adding that the distribution was delayed because the students were on holiday, occasioned by the independence celebration in the state.

Speaking in his capacity as an aide to Dr. Mrakpor, Mr Otiti said that his boss decided to identify with the youths by propagating his towering qualities as manifested in his love for quality education for youths and their development.

He said that Dr. Mrakpor had the quintessential qualities which every youth should model in their aspiration for greatness, adding that there was the need to mentor the youths to embrace moral rectitude in their development stage as the future leaders.

“We believe that these young people will one day control the leadership space. It is important to let them see the beauty of patriotism, loyalty, dedication, humility, inclusiveness and tolerance which the former Attorney – General represents,” Otiti added.

“If we miss out on this, then we have lost the opportunity to rightly groom a successor generation that will drive this nation after current sets of leaders may have vacated the scene,” he said.

“We must be thinking about the prosperity of our nation alongside the quality of generations of her leaders. And this must begin now,’’ Otiti stated.

Addressing the students of the Arhavwarien Grammar School, he admonished them to emulate the former Commissioner for Justice to become good citizens.

“If you imbibe the qualities of Dr. Mrakpor, you will become good citizens. We are here to share these ideas with you, to galvanise you for a better future,’’ he said.

Speaking, the Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Ochuko, advised the students to use the distributed materials well and aspire to attain the level of intellectual development and societal recognition of the former commissioner.

A Senior Secondary II student of the school, Kparobe Godswill, won a cash prize for his understanding of some qualities of Dr. Mrakpor SAN and toeing his path to greatness.

He said that he started aspiring to be like Mrakpor after closely following his humble rise to stardom and pledged to continue to imbibe his qualities and show discipline at all times.

“I will always imbibe the qualities of Dr. Mrakpor. I think I need to be disciplined everywhere I find myself, inwardly and outwardly,’’ he said.
