NAWOJ which is the Women Wing of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), chose today, Thursday 14th October, 2021, as a day to celebrate with girl children in various schools within Asaba as part of her contributions to the International Day of the Girl-Child with the theme: “Digital Generation, Our Generation”.
Speaking to the girls and boys alike at the Government Model School, Asaba, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Patricia Gbemudu argued that the nation of Nigeria has a lot to benefit from the training of girls, insisting that training a girl is like training a nation.
She encouraged the girl students to study hard to achieve their dreams in life, while charging them to do everything within their careful capacity to avoid rape, violence and staying focused to education.
While urging them to join the NAWOJ FRITH Club in the school, Gbemudu also encouraged the boys to engage themselves in the advocacy against rape, violence against girls, avoiding of truancy and protecting girls within their various communities.
