Okwagbe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has alleged that Owawha community has perfected plans to free suspects arrested over the gruesome murder of five of their indigenes namely: Faith Miller, Omotegbona Kama, Dogo Ayoro, Owhofasa Ajama and Tobor Jivwien.

This alleged miscarriage of justice is contained in a petition by Okwagbe community to the Inspector General of Police (IGP),

Okwagbe Community alleged that since the invasion of their community by the Owawha bandits, Owawha community has boasted that they would deploy their contacts to release the arrested suspects.

According to the petition made available to newsmen, the Okwagbe community said: “That while the suspects are in custody awaiting arraignment, members of Owawha community kept boasting that they have perfected plans to transfer the matter to the AIG’s Office Zone 5 Benin City and that the suspects will be release from Zone 5.

The petition also further stated that: “The Owawha people boasted that they will terminate the matter at Zone 5 and make sure no further steps are taken against the suspects.

“That as at today the 25th of November 2021 contrary to the arraignment of the suspects by the Delta State Police Command, the AIG’s Office Zone 5 Benin City has requested that the matter and the suspects be transferred to Zone 5 Benin City, confirming the boasting by Owawha community.”

Okwagbe community smelling a rat by this development has said in their petition that: “We are not comfortable with this new development, as it is very evident that the oppressors have made good their threat and wish to circumvent justice at the AIG’s Office, Zone 5, Benin City.

“It is on this account we are writing this petition to you in the interest of justice that you request that the above matter be transferred to your office at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja or that the Delta State Police Command who have concluded all investigations in the case be allowed to prosecute this matter.

“Alternatively, we pray that you use your good offices to direct the matter to Force CID Abuja to be investigated and for further action,” they said in the petition.
