DTSG Inaugurates Urban Technical Committee

Delta State Government (DTSG) has inaugurated the Urban Forum Technical Committee for the greater development of the state.
The Commissioner for Urban Renewal and Chairman of the Delta State Urban Forum, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo Esq, disclosed that Governor Okowa had demonstrated his commitment to the transformation of the state through urban renewal.
He noted that the state government had strategised by building institutions and professionals that would co-ordinate citizens participation in planning and development processes that would anchor the forum.
He explained that this would give effectiveness and sustainability in the development plan in the major cities in the state.

He said that members of the committee were drawn from different ministries, professions, agencies and departments of government to harmonise goals of development projects in the state.
He stated that the experts would advise on urban development and implementing matters when it concerned urban infrastructure, renewal planning, resettlement and general intervention development in urban centres, adding that the task was most needful in the management of development and activities of the urban space.
Akpowowo advised members of the committee to act expeditiously on matters that would be brought to them, stressing that the committee should seat periodically to discuss crucial issues, including budgetary, just as he maintained that the first meeting should be held in the first quarter of the year.
He expressed the hope that all the goals of the urban forum would be achieved with the expert guidance of the technical committee, adding that the infrastructure base for urban fabrics should reflect the gain of integrated development planning and implementation.
The committee has the Director of Urban Development as Chairman and eight other representatives from ministries of Energy, Housing, Justice, Transport and Environment, including Water Resources Development, Works and Urban Renewal.
