-As Car Crushes Couple To Death
By Daniel Dafe/Lawrence Omoyoma
A rights activist in Delta State, Comrade Israel Joe, has called on the governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa to construct a pedestrian bridge at the Petroleum Training Institute Junction in Warri.
In an open letter to the Governor, Comrade Joe noted that his call is hinged on a research conducted across the state which includes Koka junction, Asaba and PTI junction in Effurun Warri metropolis.
According to him, the issue of Koka junction was already addressed since a roundabout is already been built there.
He added, “It was discovered that 300 to 400 thousand people cross the junction daily”.
To buttress his call, he recalled how some months ago, a newly married pregnant lady and her husband died in an accident while crossing the same road in front of the PTI Conference Centre.

Continuing, he opined that if the bridge is built, it would safeguard the lives of Deltans, adding that this would halt the avoidable hold-ups caused by those crossing the PTI Junction every morning and evening.
He also called on the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Hon Solomon Ighrakpata representing Okpe and Uvwie constituencies respectively to rally support for his call and make it a reality.
