The Governor’s aide stated that, the theme was well crafted to prepare publishers and writers ahead of the task of providing balanced opinion and reporting of activities leading to the next general elections and, as the state prepares for another transition process, publishers should be in tune with what is expected of them as watchdogs of the society, especially in this era of misinformation.

“Resource persons expected at the workshop are top notched professionals with wide range of experience and expertise in managing communication between citizens and the government in election era as well as shaping public discourse and opinions in the political climate,” Mr Onwuka added.

The two-day workshop, he said, will cover topics such as “Community Journalism As Instrument of Good Neighbourliness and Unity, Grassroots Political Reporting and Agenda Setting,, Journalism 101: Basic Principles for Storytelling, Value Reorientation and Peace Building As Essential Functions of Community Newspapers and Publishing for Profits: Strategies and Prospects.”
