Multiple sources disclosed that the kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen blocked the Eku-Abraka road at about 5:30pm and fired several bullets into the councilor’s car that ended up in the politician’s abdomen.
Sources said he was seriously wounded and he is battling for his life at a very high financial cost.
Meanwhile, residents in the area appealed to the local government council and Delta State government to take urgent steps in minimizing further kidnapping attacks and clear the hospital bills of the said councilor.
Reacting to the development, Chairman of the council, Hon (Pharm.) Victor Ofobrukueta, called for calm, saying they are on top of the situation.
Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, proved abortive as he was not available to pick his phone calls at the time of filing this report.
