By Sunday Apah

The Delta Central 2023 lobby group (DC-23) and notable Deltans have hosted Senator (Chief) Ighoyota Amori in honour of his election and subsequent swearing in as the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his appreciation speech during the ceremony, held at his residence in Asaba, the state capital, Amori stated that he was highly elated by the gestures of the organisers of the ceremony in his honour.

He noted that the ceremony had proven otherwise the saying that “prophets are not honoured in their country,” adding that “here, I am in my country, state and Delta Central Senatorial District being honoured by my own people.”

According to him, “the party organised in my honour to welcome me after my inauguration and swearing in as the PDP National Deputy Organising Secretary shows that the position is well known in the political structure of the PDP. It is really the engine room of the PDP.”

“So when you have one of your own as the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the PDP, it definitely calls for celebration. For a very long time now, Delta State has not attained a position of this nature,” he said.

“By the grace of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who God used to elevate me to this position as not just a representative of Delta State and the South South, but the entire country as Deputy National Organising Secretary, my joy knows no bound,” he enthused.

“I promised not to disappoint you. Like I said in Abuja that all I need was a platform to stand and I will do my best. I am going to work in the interest of Delta state, South South, Southern Nigeria and the country as a whole,” he added.

“The leadership of the party is very close to me; so, I can assure you that the PDP you saw before now will not be the same PDP you will see henceforth. Come 2023, the PDP will remain in power in Delta State and any department of election, same in every position in Nigeria,” he said.

Earlier, the Deputy National Chairman, Olorogun Solomon Ighrakpata; First Vice National Chairman, Hon. Reuben Izeze; National Secretary, Olorogun Dr. Chris Oharisi and National Publicity Secretary, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, all of the DC-23, in their separate speeches described Senator Amori as a pragmatic personality who used every given position for the benefit of those he represented.

“Amori’s strength is markedly evident in his humility, selflessness and patriotic dispositions to public issues. He has been instrumental to the building of unity bridges across all parts of Delta State and he has made giant positive impact on the development of Delta Central and its people,” they said.

“It’s only a great planner, with the dexterity to have a positive change that can do what Chief Amori had done in Delta Politics. As executives and members of DC-23, we are pleased to rejoice with you and congratulate you on your election and swearing in as the Deputy National Organising Secretary of PDP,” they stated.

“It is our sincere prayer that God will continue to grant you good health and prosperity as you soldier on in the quest to better the socioeconomic lots of the Urhobos and Deltans as a whole, ” they added.
