NYCP Condemns Killing Of Ochoche Shedrack By Policemen, Gives IGP 7-Day Ultimatum

The North Central Youth Parliament has in strong terms condemned what they said was “the avoidable death of a promising Nigerian youth who was inhumanely and barbarically murdered in the hands of killer agents of the Nigerian Police Force while in detention at Mabushi police Division.

A statement signed by Rt. Hon. Jeremiah Friday Ohomah, Speaker, North Central Youth Parliament (NCYP), said the deceased, late Shedrack Ochoche “was said to have been apprehended over a missing item in his former place of work with no substantial evidence available to juxtaposed the allegation.”

Adding: “In a recurrent unprofessional bias of the Police officers involved whom were said to have acted under the instructions of the owner of the item Madam Pimpim an aggrieved boss of the deceased had illegally detained and tortured late Shedrack, who later sustained several degrees of irrecoverable injuries that regrettably led to his untimely death.”

Accirding to the statement, “this unprofessionalism and flagrant misconduct had not only infringed on the fundamental human right of the deceased to life but had also thrown the entire family of the deceased into a perpetual grieve.”

“At the time the public confidence in the Nigerian Police had cascaded, this occurrence has no doubt left an indelible dent on the competence and image of the police force in it entirety.

“However, the Youth under my stewardship had taken upon themselves to seek justice for the deceased and the family even though the justice wouldn’t restored the precious life that was taken away from the late Shedrack, but we intend to make him the last person to die of injustice and incompetence of the Nigerian Police Force,” the statement added.

Furthermore, the body called on the Inspector General of Police to launch an immediate and timed investigation into the case and ensure those involved are faced with quantified justice.

“Failure to accede to our demands within 7-days will leave us with no option than to commence action to get justice for the deceased,” NYCN added.
