Delta 2023: Ijaw Group Applauds Aniagwu Over Comments On Zoning, Commends Clark For Setting Records Straight

Delta Ijaw 2023 Governorship Advocacy Group (DIGAG) has commended the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu for stating that there is no written agreement on zoning of governorship office in Delta State.

Recall that Aniagwu said this recently during a live television programme while responding to questions.

In a statement signed by the DG of the group,
Augustine Okporu,, DIGAG added: “We are happy that the Hon. Commissioner has come back to the undeniable reality which is staring us in the face.”

According to the statement, “the argument of Senatorial District zoning should now be buried for the good of our political future. Just like Charles Aniagu now rightly posites, there is no written or gentleman agreement on the issue of zoning of governorship office in the PDP in Delta State. Such can only come after the Party picks its guber candidate.”

Continuing, DIGAG said: “We commend Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his bold steps to unite the State and the ruling Party ahead of the 2023 general elections. He should continue to display such political sagacity by engendering a level playing ground for the Party primaries. We pray God to guide him and direct his affairs for the growth and well being of the State.”

The group also commended Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, who DIGAG described as the “South South Leader and father of Delta politics for the fatherly roles he is playing.”

“We’re grateful to God for keeping our foremost Nationalist alive to this day to be given us a fatherly wise counsel. Papa, our prayer is that you continue to live long in order to finish your innate assignments on earth,” the statement said.

Adding: “Now that the needlessly controversial zoning topic has been laid to rest in the State, we implore the State Chairman of the Party, Barr. Kingsley Esiso and the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Chief (Sen.) Ighoyota Amori to strive to be PDP helmsmen in Delta State and not their projected Delta Central Senatorial District interest. The duo have a moral burden to hand over a united Party to their successors.

“We therefore appeal to them to rescind their Senatorial District zoning debate. Let Deltans choose the right person for the Party to contest the general election.”
