DTHA: Former Ethiope East PDP Chairman Praises Akpowowo, Says With Him Party Will Have Easy Win
By Daniel Dafe
Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Chief Kingsley Omonigho Okpako, popularly known as Kuti, has congratulated Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo after he clinched the ticket and emrged candidate of the party in the area for the House of Assembly election in 2023.
Speaking to journalists in Abraka after the victory, Chief Okpako recalled how Akpowowo won the party’s primaries twice and still lost the DTHA election.
According to him, this was because then there was “a cabal; a one man orchestral from a different party who the voters especially the aged did not bother to have a rethink to critically consider who they will vote for but rather chose to support Ogboru and his people and thus voted against the PDP.
Speaking on his party’s chances in the general election, he said: “Olorogun Arthur Akowowowo is a celebrated son of the soil. We see him as a political messiah; a milestone.”

He continued: “He has been a good leader and one of the immediate past commissioners in the state. He is a grassroot’s man. Now, let me tell you one truth; Arthur is a party man. He was a committed party member before they made him the youth leader. Then, I was a senatorial ex-official before I became a member of the Tourism Board.
“Arthur is a person I know. He did not lose those elections because he did not deserve to win. I must tell you one truth that he lost because of youthful exuberance. Arthur was not mature then. I must tell you the truth that now Arthur is up to age. This is his prime time. If something no tey bad, e go tey good”.
Speaking further, he said: “All the contestants are my children. I gave them my blessings but one person must emerge. Sister Faith Majemite is a person I hold in high esteem. Ogedebe is a young dynamic and industrious boy with vigor. Any of them will come out victorious in the general elections because the person that has been fighting us… thank God the coast is clear now. No Labour, no APC, no other party. I see a one way ticket for Akpowowo and I pray he comes out victorious in 2023.”
Continuing, he noted that Akpowowo is a man that has been endowed with the capacity for empathy, saying that he is a compassionate man.
Also, he urged PDP to be steadfast, dedicated and faithful.
In his words, there should be “no rancor or fighting.”
“We have only one enemy. This is the primaries and now someone has emerged. Everybody should rally around that person and nourish him to become a good flag bearer. What happened in Edo State when APC took over, we know what we suffered and it should not happen here.
The truth is that although APC is on the national stage, they are still scared of PDP because for eight years we have been together bounded by one thing and they are worried.
“The thing bounding us together is called love. If it is just the party, we are nothing. But because of the love, we are still steadfast. Even the greedy ones that leave us, come back. So my party members must be faithful, dedicated and steadfast. They must bathe Akpowowo, cream him and present him to the world and he will come out victorious in the general election.”
