I Want To End The Suffering Of My People From Poor Representation, Marierie Tells Civil Society Network
The Civil Society Network for Citizens Engagement, Credible Elections and Good Governance (CSNCE2GG) led by Activist Rex Anighoro has visited and engaged with Hon. (Barr.) Samuel Mariere a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency House of Representatives Aspirant at his country home in Evwreni Ughelli North Local Government Area.
At the engagement, Activist Rex Anighoro hailed Hon. (Barr.) Samuel Mariere for being a quality legislator who distinguished himself at the Delta State House of Assembly as a two term member.
He made it known that the outstanding performance at the Delta State House of Assembly where he sponsored over twenty bills remains a reference point at the Delta State House of Assembly.
Activist Rex Anighoro hailed Hon. Samuel Mariere for being a courageous and an independent minded legislator who always spoke truth to power in the defence of the citizens regardless of whose ox is gored.
Hon. (Barr.) Samuel Mariere responding thanked the Civil Society leaders for finding time to come and engage with him stated that he was glad to receive the Civil Society leaders as he recognises the enormous place of the Civil Society in development and being the voice of the citizens.
He made it known that no political aspirant who truly wants to represent the people will ignore to engage with the civil society.
“Any aspirant avoiding the scrutiny of the Civil Society is having something to hide and many truly not have a clear Agenda for the Citizens”, he said.
When Asked by Activist Rex Anighoro Why he wants to represent the people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers, Hon. Barr Samuel Mariere said ” I want to end the suffering of my people at the Green Chambers, my people has suffered so much from poor representation, this constituency is the heartbeat of Urhobo Nation with 14 Kingdoms of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms should we continue to allow a Dorime champagne loving, or a deceptive cloak wearing clergy to misrepresent our people and extend our suffering? The people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency must be rescued from the strangulations of dealers and gamblers.”
When asked further by Activist Rex Anighoro why he thinks he should be supported above ranking aspirants he responded thus ” who is more ranking than me, no one is ranking than me, I have served for two terms at the Delta State House of Assembly that makes me ranking by the way those who go about campaigning with being ranking, what have they used their ranking to do for our people? Is it in doling slavish handouts, sleeping in hotels or been a desperate Pentecostal Anglican clergy? I am a performer with track records and will perform outstandingly, ranking or not. I will give quality represention that the Constituency have never witnessed.”
Activist Rex Anighoro stated further that Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency is home of great Urhobo leaders noting that out of about 13 President Generals of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) four have come out the Constituency, he also said since 1999 Democratic experience out of about Seven Senators that have represented Urhobo Nation at least five have come from the Constituency, he said these facts makes it very incumbent on all the aspirants to ensure they are people of uncommon quality, he told Hon Samuel Mariere that his quality is known and that there are no doubts about his abilities, he wished him well in the pursuit to represent the good People of the Ughelli North Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency.
Also speaking at the engagement, Amb. Augusta Impact Keneboh stated that the Civil Society will always be available to add value and to help the political class serve better the cause of the citizens as the office of the Citizens remain supreme.
