Private School Owners Hold Children’s Day Celebration In Uvwie

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Uvwie Chapter, Delta State, on Friday celebrated the 2022 Children’s Day celebration in style.

The programme tagged ‘The Challenges of Parental Failure and themed: ‘Save, the Nigerian Child,’ held at Paradise hall, Moshehse Estate, Airport Road.

Speaking during the auspicious occasion, Chairman, NAPPS, Uvwie and Executive Director, City Child Foundation Schools, Mrs. Rose Obi, said that “the importance of children’s day every year is to create awareness about the rights, privileges, education, welfare e.t.c. of children.”

She added: “We celebrate children because of the joy they bring all over the world. Children are considered future builders of a nation because the future of every country depends on the children who will be adults in the future. Our children should be our most valuable asset.”

She continued: “They represent the bright future of our dear country and hold our hopes for a better nation. Sadly, our children are also the most vulnerable members of the society. They are exposed to a lot of vices, insecurity, truancy, indecent dresses, stealing, neglect, malpractice, class skipping, emotional abuse, physical abuse, starvation, neglect etc.

“Protecting our children against the fear of crime must be a national priority.

We live in a world today where parents can afford to buy toys worth thousands of naira for their children, and pay less attention to their education. We must arise and positively impact our children. This we must do immediately and with all the commitment that this cause deserves.”

The well packaged event had several presentations by learners from different schools in the chapter to spice up the event.

Talks were presented by Mrs. Akpomudjere, Amb. (Dr.) Mrs. Onyiyechi Ikemfuna and Dr. Moses Ossai on ‘Technology your Master or your Servant,’ ‘Nutrition,’ and ‘Class Skipping and Truancy’ respectively.

Also, lectures on ‘Dressing’ and ‘Relationship and Communication’ were presented by Dr. (Mrs.) Abidde and Dr. E.E. Oniyama respectively.

The occasion chaired by Pastor Freeman Kalu had several school owners and parents/guardians of learners in attendance.
