Delta State Police Command Goes Tough On Cultists, Storms Their Celebration Venue In Ogwashi-Uku, Arrests 51, Recovers Two Guns

Delta Police Command on Wednesday arrested 51 suspected cultists in Ogwashi-Uku.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, said the Command acted on a tip off received that some suspected Eiye Confraternity Cult group will be marking their anniversary in Ogwashi-Uku, saying that the police located where and when the ceremony will be held.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali is said to have detailed the Command’s Buffalo Patrol team, operatives from Area Command Ogwashi-Uku and Ogwashi-Uku Division.
The police operatives stormed the venue for the occasion, Big Apple Hotel in Ogwashi-Uku.

According to.the statement, “the suspects on sighting the police took to their heels, while some of them shot at the Police.”
“They were given a hot chase by the team and fifty-one (51) suspected cultists were arrested, two cut to size locally made guns, one expended cartridge, Eiye Confraternity regalia were recovered,” the statement said.
Adding: “Suspects have been transferred to the Command Anti-Cult unit (SACU) for investigation, and those found wanting upon completion of investigation, will be charged to court.”
