Owo: No Hausa Community Was Attacked, It Was A Failed Robbery Operation, Not Reprisal —Ondo Police

The Ondo State Police Command has debunked reports that said gunmen on Wednesday killed six men of northern extraction in the Sabo area of Ondo town in Ondo State, days after terrorists attacked St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, another town in the state.

Reports said that the victims were reportedly buried Wednesday according to Islamic rites while one of the victims was still receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine via a telephone conversation, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the report of a reprisal attack was untrue.

In her words, “it was a case of an attempted robbery that failed.”

Adding: “There was no reprisal attack of any sort.”

According to her, during the robbery attack, “a bus driver was shot dead while the motor boy was able to escape.”

“A motorcyclist and a few passersby were injured,” she said.

Asked if the said area where the incidence happened was a Hausa community, she said no, but gave the name as Sabo.
