….Inaugurates National Coordinators

The Delta Unity Group, DUG of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, has asserted its readiness to campaign vigorously for the victory of the party for all elective positions in the 2023 general elections, saying it represents the new face of the state PDP with focus on unifying all members.

Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly (DTHA) and National Coordinator of the group, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, stated this at the officialv inauguration of the National Council, Board of Trustees and Local Government Coordinators of the group on Wednesday at an elaborate meeting held in Uro, Isoko South Local Government Area, by the former Chairman of Delta ALGON, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo.

While pledging the group’s total support for all PDP candidates, Hon Onwusanya said its vision is the modernisation of Delta State with all stakeholders working together but disclosed that it will be difficult for people to work for anyone they do not believe in his or her capacity.

Also speaking at the occasion, the immediate past Speaker of DTHA, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, recalled similar legal battle for the governorship of Rivers State in 2007 in which the Supreme Court upturned the victory of Celestine Omeha in favour of Rotimi Amaechi.

He urged supporters and party faithfuls to be steadfast and not be deterred, pointing out that all votes at the election are for the party and not for individual. He assured the gathering that, by God’s grace, there would be favourable judgement for David Edevbie from the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court is a court of matured minds so its judgement will unite PDP in Delta State.” Igbuya added.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, former Member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, said in as much as they were going to campaign for their party, they were also concerned about the quality of the person they wanted to represent them in the Delta State.

According to Reyenieju, “Olorogun David Edevbie remains my choice for Governor. Don’t let the man die in you. So let’s speak up against a bad choice for governorship in Delta State.”

Appealing to Deltans not to lose sleep over the outcome of the Court of Appeal judgement of August 29, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Chiedu Ebie, who said Deltans were anxious for justice, noted that the Supreme Court was the court of justice.

The DUG inaugurated Board of Trustees, National Council and Local Government Coordinators.

Those inaugurated into the BOT for the unification of party members and modernisation the state include Prof Patrick Muoboghare, Chief Morrison Olori, Dr Isaac Akpoveta, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya, Chief Giwa Amu Theodora, Chief Clem Ofuani, Arch Joe Iroro, Rt Hon Tams Brisibe, Rt Hon Mercy Almona Isei, Pst Champion Kpateghe and Pastor John Greatman Chukwuka

Others are Chairman Rt Hon Peter Onwusanya, Deputy Chairman Hon Evance Ivwurie, Vice Chairman South. Rt Hon Daniel Reyeineju, Vice Chairman Central Rt Hon Monday Igbuya, Vice chairman North Rt Hon Olisa Imegwu, Secreatry General Comrade Michael Akpobire, Asst Secretary Hon Stanley Odali, Treasurer Hon. Fred Ofume, Legal Adviser Barrister Robison Ariyo, Publicity Secretary Mr Sunny Areh, Organising Secretary Hon. Godwin Ejinyere, Youth leader Comrade Isaiah Ingo, and Woman leader Chief Florence Ayomanor.

Those DUG inaugurated to coordinate the Local Government levels are Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana for Patani, Hon. Godwin Abigor, Warri South, Hon. Faith Majemite, Ethiope East, Olorogun Esere Ejifoma Uvwie amongst others
