2023: Former DTHA Member Dumps PDP, Says Okowa Is Clannish, Oborevwori Incompetent

Former Member, Delta State House of Assembly, Ethiope East Constituency, Hon. Chief Evance Ivwurie, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Chief Ivwurie, a former Hon. Commissioner and member of the Delta State Executive Council and Coordinator of former President Olusegun Obasanjo National Poverty Eradication Program, said this in a letter dated Wednesday, 27 December, 2022 and addressed to the Ward 2 Chairman of the party in Abraka.

He said: “I write to notify you of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect from today, the 27th of December, 2022.”

According to him, he took the decision because of the absence of good governance and complete derailment of the Party from acceptable norms, ideals, tenets and principles of democracy in the state.

On why he decided to dump the party, he continued: “For neglecting and marginalizing my community, constituency and our entire state.

“For mortgaging the future of the state through massive borrowing, lack of transparency and accountability.

“For maladministration, clannishness, greed, wickedness and third term (via a puppet) ambition of the Governor.

“For imposing a person with questionable academic credentials, an incapable and deficiently clumsy Governorship candidate on the Party.

“For undermining, embarrassing and ridiculing the Urhobo nation.

“For exacerbating a culture of impunity, imposition, arbitrariness, unethical conducts, hooliganism and lack of respect for and protection of lives and properties.”

Furthermore, he said that “since the Party is now committed to elevating and spreading poverty and suffering across Delta State, while squandering the state billions of naira, and in view of the continuous cries, appeals and requests of my teeming supporters from my ward to outside the shores of Nigeria, it has become inevitable though difficult for me to end my membership and association with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) forthwith.”

Adding: “This is to enable me reposition myself and my followers to provide better leadership and infrastructural development for my community, constituency and our dear state.”

Recall that a former chairman of the local government area, Chief Faith Majemite dumped the party on Thursday and joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
