Those Involved In UPU Election Only Want To Bring Chaos To Urhobo Nation –Omene
The Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, President General, Chief Joe Orode Omene on Sunday called on the Urhobo nation to disregard a UPU election purported held on Saturday with one Barr Ese Gam Owe emerging as the President General, saying it is a charade, just as he insisted that the case is in court and judgement will soon be passed.
Omene who was speaking to selected group of journalists in his country home in Mosogar, Delta State said those who hurriedly conducted that election knowing judgement is at hand just want to bring chaos to the Urhobo nation.
“I am a lover of peace, I don’t want violence, I don’t want some certain youths to engage others in violence, assuming there is battle now it is the youths that will go to the battle field not the elders. We have the capacity to stop the election,” he said.
Adding that his group has been calm because judgement is at hand and they are patiently waiting for the Court decision.
The man popularly called Ejorofor narrated how Ese Gam came to him seeking his support before the elections.
“I told him he had to wait for the judgement. Any society that does not have the rule of law is inviting chaos. Ese Gam cannot claim to be the UPU President General when he knows the tenure they claim to have been running is illegal and judgement is at hand.”
On why the issue is still lingering especially when the ethnic group has highly placed leaders in positions, who can mediate, Omene said those who have been mediating and reaching out are genuinely those who have the interest of Urhobos at heart but politicians that cannot differentiate between Urhobo interest and political interest are blocking it.

He continues: “We took a position that was in everyone’s interest. Prof. Andrew Godwin Onokerhoraye, Mike Igini, Prof Arubayi and so were nice people but there are some persons who became sabotage in the system whom after taking decisions they reveal it to the other party, that has made things difficult.
Omene also lashed out at the Senate Deputy President, Barr Ovie Omo-Agege describing him as self centered.
“He has no moral justification to attack the Governor of the State “Senator Ifeanyi Okowa when he is worse than the man.
He accused Omo-Agege of attracting law school, Federal polytechnic and some other projects to his Orogun comunity rather than Delta Central insisting that he (Omo-Agege does not have the interest of the Urhobos at heart.
