Waive: Ahwinahwi Says His Victory Was Stolen By Those Masquerading As Saints, Heads To Court
By Daniel Dafe
The House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Candidate for Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Solomon Urhoboyovwe Ahwinahwi, has rejected the February 25 poll, saying that his mandate was stolen by “enemies of democracy who masqueraded as saints.”
Ahwinahwi said this in a statememt on Saturday he personally signed.
In his words, the “introduction of BVAS for voters accreditation, and uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing, IReV Portal as provided for by the 2022 Electoral Act, as well as INEC election guidelines were supposed to be complied with by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the electoral umpire but instead, INEC allowed itself to be manipulated and used by some unpatriotic elements.”

“Consequently, the BVAS was bypassed and INEC resorted to manual accreditation of voters in many polling units across our Federal Constituency, in flagrant disregard for the Law, a situation which gave my opponent the advantage to manipulate the process'” he added.
“In view of the heavy rigging of the election by All Progressives Congress, APC, in the three LGAs that make up the Federal Constituency, in connivance with some dubious INEC officials, I hereby state unequivocally that I totally reject the results of the House of Representatives election conducted in Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency on Saturday 25th February, 2023 because it was a sham and a rape on Nigeria’s democracy.
“In the light of the above, our legal team has been detailed to immediately swing into action, with the strong belief that our stolen mandate will be recovered in no distant time, through legal and democratic means.
Furthermore, why appreciating the people of the said Constituency, especially his teeming supporters, for their constant support and encouragement, added that “the system was heavily manipulated and marred by obvious irregularities.”
He called on his supporters to “remain calm, law abiding, be prayerful and keep hope alive, as it is not yet over until our victory is achieved.”
INEC returning officer for the Reps elections, Prof Marylyn Edema, said that Revd Francis Waive of the APC scored a total vote of 42,226 to defeat the PDP candidate, who scored 32,391 votes.
