Give Attention To The Plights Of DSC Township Residents, Activist Tells Oborevwori, Oyibode, Waive, Others

And Advancement (ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace” has said about the Delta Stella Company, DSC, that “it is unfortunate that a residential area once renowned for its exemplary survey planning and organized community in Nigeria in the early 80’s has now become a shadow of its former self, with many dreams shattered.”

He said this in a statement made available to Oasis Magazine on Wednesday.

According to him, “the prolonged power outage in the steel township has plunged the area into a deplorable state, driving many youths into various forms of criminal activity.”

He continued: “The news of over 16 years of power blackout at Delta Steel Company Township is a kind that should trouble any well thinking Government regardless of political affiliation. Knowing the impact electricity plays in a place either for making a place industrious, it also facilitates the survival of small scale businesses as almost every business and homes rely on electricity supply to sustain its growth and productivity.”

Continuing, he said “the Delta State Government, under the leadership of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has a responsibility to restore power supply to the Steel community,” saying “Delta Steel Township has evolved significantly from its former state to a thriving community with designated voting wards.”

He said: “Addressing the challenges faced by residents in this area would be a notable accomplishment, particularly during your second term in office, yielding a profound impact.”

Furthermore, he averred that “notwithstanding the federal allocations directly received by the Udu Local Government Council, it is imperative that the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oyibode Vincent, addresses the concerns of the people in the area.”

He said further: “Hon. Karo Goru, the DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Udu (others), as well as Hon. Francis E. Waive, the member representing the Udu federal constituency, and others in the House of Representatives, who have individually demonstrated efforts, and Hon. Bar. Egbetamah Collins, representing Udu at the State Assembly, should also be concerned about the challenges faced by steel residents.”

“We cannot have these colourful representatives in the politics of Udu and yet the actuated agony of the people and retrogression persists resulting from electricity blackouts in the area,” he concluded.
