Bendel Insurance Feeders, this evening defeated Smart City FC Feeders of Lagos 2-0 to qualify for the round of 64 in the 2023 Federation Cup.

Substitute, Okai Goddy smashed the net of the Lagosians with a sublime strike from the edge of the box in the 73 minutes of play to open scoring for the junior Insurance at the Ilorin Township Stadium in Kwara state.

The first half of the game had ended goalless after the Benin Arsenals had wasted some vital scoring chances.

Another substitute Endurance Omoruyi doubled the lead for Insurance Feeders in the 80th minute with a long range strike to seal victory for the Benin Arsenal lads.

Smart City Feeders however threatened Insurance Feeders goal area momentarily but the introduction of Chinedu Chinwe into the right back position and Goalkeeper Joshua Baba’s sharp reflexes staved off the roaring Smart City boys in the second half of the game.

A total of eight matches including Smart City Feeders versus Insurance Feeders were played across various centers in the country today in the Federation Cup Playoff and Insurance Feeders, having triumphed over Smart City Feeders,will know their next opponents in the Round of 64 –the first round in the national competition on Wednesday, April 26 after the draws.

The Aiteo Cup draws ceremony has been scheduled to hold tomorrow, at the Conference Room of the NFF/FIFA Goal Project, inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Insurance Feeders qualified to the Federation Cup Competition after finishing as runners up to the senior Bendel Insurance FC in Edo state FA cup finals which the senior team won 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Insurance FC under 15 Feeders will be playing their last group game in the ongoing NPFL-LALIGA under 15 Promise against Dakkada FC Feeders tomorrow at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Kick off time is 10:15 AM.

The Insurance under 15 drew their second match 1-1 with Wikki Tourists under 15 yesterday morning. They lost their first match 3-1 to Enyimba FC under 15.

The Insurance under 15 team needs an outright victory over Dakkada under 15 to progress to the next stage.
