Deputy Senate President and Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State during the 2023 elections, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that criminal and large-scale rigging of votes was done to impose the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori on the people of Delta State.

Ovie Omo-Agege said this in a Facebook post early Wednesday.

Stating that In the election of March 18, Deltans voted for him to be Governor, he said that “the announced results of the election, no doubt, do not reflect the expressed will of the people.”

Adding: “The election was characterized by massive alteration of figures, illegal thumb-printing, stuffing of ballot boxes, buying of votes and intimidation of voters.”

Continuing in the statement that seemed to be a message to Deltans especially party faithful and those that voted for him, he said: “I would have let this pass but my conscience will not let me. I constantly remember the support you gave me through the campaigns, the way you voted for me enmasse and the promise I made to protect your votes. I will not let the mandate you gave to me to be stolen in broad daylight. It will be a let-down and squander of the collective will of the people. It is based on this premise that I went to the Tribunal to challenge the outcome of the Delta State Governorship election.

“This massive fraud should and will not stand. Sheriff Oborevwori knows that the Delta people rejected him at the poll and I am determined to prove that at the tribunal. I am determined, more than ever before to ensure that only lawful votes are counted and the true winner, which I believe I am, is pronounced.”

According to him, the people of Delta State, adding that his” campaign was guided by the unwavering commitment to Build a New Delta.”

“That commitment rallied thousands of you to our campaigns. And all across our villages, towns and cities, you voted to Build a New Delta State,” he said.

Furthermore, he thanked all party members, supporters, and the good people of Delta State “for their loyalty, doggedness, steadfastness and commitment to change in the State.”

“That the vote was criminally robbed by PDP does not in any way diminish the heroic struggle and determination to free Delta State from oppression, exclusion and domination by a few,” he opined.

He thus called on all his supporters to remain calm, law abiding and go about their normal lawful businesses, saying that they should rest assured that he will “do everything legally possible to reclaim the stolen mandate.”

This message to Deltans follows the Delta State APC leaders and stakeholders meeting that held on Tuesday in
Asaba.
