100 Level DELSU Student, 45 Others Bag National Scholarship Award

Ms Angel Ogheneochuko, a 100-level student of Mass Communication at Delta State University, Abraka was among the 46 beneficiaries of the National Scholarship Programme for Tertiary Education sponsored by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The awards were presented today at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by the Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu who is the National President of the RHI.

The beneficiaries were awarded a laptop and a yearly payment of One Million Naira for four years.

Recall that the First Lady launched the RHI programme at the State House yesterday to focus on five key areas, including agriculture, education, economic empowerment, health and socio-investment.

According to a statement by Busola Kukoyi, the Special Adviser on Media to the First Lady, the beneficiaries were drawn from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, Sen. Tinubu explained that the initiative aims to ensure that no willing student is left behind in the purist of education.

“With the National Scholarship Programme (NASP), we envision a Nigeria where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can access the best education available”, she said.

“It is not just about textbooks and classrooms, it is about igniting curiosity, speaking innovation and fostering a love of learning that will transcend generations..

“The inaugural National Scholarship Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative is a four year scholarship programme of One Million Naira per year and a laptop for each beneficiary.

“Today we are empowering 46 students from across the states”.

In her reaction, Ogheneochuko expressed joy over the scholarship, promising to excel in her academics to justify the investment of the RHI in her studies.
