Four students of the Department of Languages and Linguistics (BA Linguistics/Urhobo), Delta State University, Abraka on Wednesday, 21st February, 2024, received cheques of N200,000 as scholarship award from the Engr Dr Samuel Adjogbe Foundation.
The cheques were presented by the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof Nelson Edewor and Head, Department of Languages and Linguistics, Prof Emeka Ifesieh at the New Faculty of Arts Complex, DELSU, Abraka during the monthly meeting of the Urhobo Studies Association (USA).
The four beneficiaries, Inanu Nwamaka Annastacia, Omobo Efemena Success, Itefa Shelah Omamuyovwi and Ohwonohwo Suzan Ogheneyerovwo are 200 level and 300 level students in the BA Linguistics Urhobo programme with the highest CGPA. Inanu is of Igbo origin.
USA’s Chairman, Prof Rose Aziza commended the Engr Dr Samuel Adjogbe Foundation for the scholarship and interest in the development of Urhobo language studies. She challenged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously as the best way to reciprocate the good gesture of the Foundation.

USA’s Vice Chairman, Prof Sunny Awhefeada and Chief Anthony Ukere were in attendance at the presentation ceremony that coincided with the International Mother Language Day 2024 themed, ‘Multilingual education – pillar of intergenerational learning’.
