DTHA Member Condoles Otovwodo Community Over Demise Of Eldest Man

The All Progressive Congress (APC ) member representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta House of Assembly, Hon Chief Benson Obire has condoled the people of Agbarha Warri community of Otovwodo ( Agbassa ) over the demise of the Okpako R ‘ vwodo ( eldest man ) of the community, High Chief ( Pa) Pius Okene last weekend.

The lawmaker in his speech during the visit, described the death of High Chief ( Pa ) Pius Okene as a great loss not only to Okene Family but to the community and indeed Agbarha Warri kingdom.

Obire who is the Deputy Unuovwodo ( tradititioal representative of the Ovie of Agbarha Warri of Otovwodo Community), noted that Chief (Pa ) Okene died when his services were needed most by the community and kingdom.

He however urged members of Okene family to take solace in the fact that late High Chief ( Pa ) Okene led a good life that was worthy of emulation and that he will be long be remembered for his numerous contributions to the developments of the community.

In his response, the Head of Okene Dynasty, Chief Raphael Okene Esq, noted that the visit of the lawmaker was good and timely as a representative of the people at the Delta State House of Assembly.

The respected Warri based legal icon, also noted that the burial was not only for Okene family but for the Otovwodo ( Agbassa) Community.

Chief Raphael Okene had earlier appreciated Hon Benson Obire for the visit.

Obire was accompanied by Hon Kingsley Orere, Dr Paul Ojogri, Hon Obruche Obodo, Hon Marcus Akuruli among others.

While a former Secretary to Warri South Local Government Council , Augustine Okene, a lawyer and also a retired staff of DESOPADEC was among members of Okene Dynasty present during the visit.

High Chief (Pa) Pius Okene died on Wednesday, 23rd August, 2023 at the age of 86 years after a brief illness.

Until his death, he was a retired court registrar.

The late Okpako R’ Ovwodo of Otovwodo ( Agbassa) Community is survived by a wife and 3 children.

No date has been fixed for his burial.
