Environmental Sanitation Exercise To Hold Saturday In Delta

The Delta State Government has said that the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for September will hold across the state on Saturday, September 30th 2023, between the hours of 7am and 10am.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday signed by Theresa Adiabua Oliko, Director of Public Communication.

“During the exercise, there will be restriction of vehicular and human movements, except those on essential duties, and residents are advised to clean up their immediate surroundings, de-silt drains and ensure proper disposal of waste as well as fumigate their premises,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro; the Permanent Secretary, staff of the ministry and other relevant authorities would monitor the clean- up exercise.

The statement added that officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Local Government councils and other relevant authorities would evacuate the resultant refuse to approved dump sites in the state.

It warned that those found not taking part in the exercise would be brought before mobile magistrate courts and prosecuted accordingly.
