UNIDEL ls Ready For Training Of Nurses- Registrar, NMCN
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria ( NMCN) has expressed satisfaction with the standard of facilities and equipment available in UNIDEL for the take off of the nursing program.
The Registrar of the Council, Dr Faruk Abubakar, made the disclosure when he led his team to UNIDEL on resource visit.
Dr. Abubakar said UNIDEL, from what was on the ground, was fully ready for the program, noting that they are happy with statistics of data presented by the Dean of Basic Medical Sciences Prof. John Igweh , the Dean Faculty of Medicine Prof. A. Naiho and the HOD of Nursing ,Prof. O. Okhai .
” We are pleased with the world-class facilities and equipment present in this young but fast growing University. We do not compromise standard, but l can assure you that our judgement on this resource visit will favour this University.we have gone round, inspected the facilities and equipment, and we are highly impressed. ”
” Our primary objectives is to ensure high quality of Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria, maintain a high standard of professional nursing and midwifery practice, and enforce discipline within the profession .”

” Nursing is unique in Nigeria,well structured and efforts are being made by NMCN to double production of graduates on yearly basis ”
The NMCN boss further stated that based on UNIDEL readiness,the enrollment of the program will be captured in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board( JAMB) database for admission.
While appreciating the UNIVERSITY management for the excellent reception and hospitality accorded to his team,Dr Abubakar said he will ensure that necessary support and assistance are rendered to the institution.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, commended the NMCN team for their contributions towards the growth of Nursing programmes in Nigerian Universities.
She said the institution is well grounded and ready to compete favourably with their counterpart in other universities, stressing that the atmosphere is conducive for effective learning and teaching.
It could be recalled that the nursing program in UNIDEL came into existence on August 25th ,2023, after the Nigerian Universities Commission ( NUC) verification exercise.
The NMCN delegation was received by the University principal officers which were ,the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Patricia Etuna Mbah, the Registrar Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar Mr Sunny Ikeogwu and the University Librarian Dr (Mrs) Vera Okonoko. Others were the Deans of Education Prof.Arisi Regina, Environmental Sciences Prof. Ambrose Ikhuoria,Law Dr S.E Ojogbo, Management Science Dr Andrew Ugbah, Social Sciences Dr Sunday ljieh,Arts Dr Caroline Ohen and Computing Dr Okpako Ejaita
The directors of academic planning,Dr Anthony Ukpene,Sevicom Mr Kassim Oghiator, and human resources,Mrs Esther Akpojivi, were also present.
The NMCN team leader ,Dr Faruk Abubakar, was accompanied by Mr Ndagi Alhassan, Director Nursing/hod Standards and Accreditation ,Mrs Igumbor Gloria DNS ,Delta State,Pie Vivian secretary. Others are Dr Chika Odira and Mrs Evbodaghe Rita.
