Okpobor Celebrates Easter With The Aged In Isoko, Doles Cash To 480 Recipients

The Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the Board of DESOPADEC, Chief Oghenekome Okpobor yesterday brightened the Easter celebration for the aged in Isoko North and South.
The event which took place at the Isoko Development Union (IDU) House in Oleh, Delta State, witnessed a mammoth crowd of recipients from Isoko nation.
Addressing the recipients, Chief Okpobor said though times are hard, he still took it upon himself to help his people from his personal money and not government money.

According to him, “I emulate my Boss, the Governor of the State and in line with his style, I picked 20 people from each of the 24 Wards in Isoko – 11 in Isoko South and 13 in Isoko North, bringing the total to 480. Each of them shall go home with a little token of twenty thousand naira only.”
While emphasizing that the token is from his pocket, he said it was just the beginning of good things to come and begged the Isoko people to support the State Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the good things he is doing for the people, adding that light has come to Isoko.
“I shall be carrying out such exercises on a seasonal basis. If God blesses me now, I can just wake up and say I want to do another one next month or two months time. By the Special grace of God, I will continue to do it for my people to ease the burden and stress on them. I pray to God to use me and our Governor to better the lives of the Isoko people,” he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, the President General of Isoko Development Union, Prof. Chris Akpotu while appreciating the EDFA for the feat, had said it was actually the spirit of Easter that brought everyone together.
“Your son decided to put a smile on the faces of the aged during this Easter period out of what God has blessed him with. He is doing it because he cares for you all. He has also done a lot for Isoko people. Always pray for him in your quiet times in your rooms,” Prof. Akpotu said.
The IDU Youth President, Prince Mzee Fidelis Obokpaino while also speaking, thanked God for the opportunity and on behalf of the entire Isoko youths, appreciated the EDFA for his role in bringing the different factions of Isoko youths under one umbrella. He also appreciated him for the show of love for the parents who thronged the hall to collect their tokens.
Responding, two of the recipients who spoke on behalf of others, Pa. Jacob Umukoro from Otor-Iyede Ward 1 and Madam Akpoleu Rachel from Ozoro Ward 3 appreciated Chief Okpobor and prayed for God’s guidance, protection and provision for him.
Present at the event were the Second Vice President of IDU, Double Chief Daniel Odhomo; Former Vice Chairman of Isoko North LG Council, Comr. Frank Ozue; IDU Youth Vice President, Comr. Macaulay James; IDU Youth Secretary, Comr. David Igbe and a host of others.
