DELSU Postgraduate Students Congratulate New Dean, Professor Awhefeada

The Postgraduate Students Association of Nigeria, PGSAN, Delta State University, Abraka, has hailed the appointment of Professor Sunny Awhefeada as the new Dean of Postgraduate School.
PGSAN in a statement on Saturday, signed by the President, Ohwovoriole Oviebemre and Secretary,
Umeh Chinonye, while congratulating Prof Awhefeada, described the appointment as a round peg in a round hole.
The statement added: “We have no doubt that as you pilot the affairs of the Postgraduate School in the institution, giant strides will be witnessed under your leadership.”

Continuing, PGSAN, said: “Your antecedents speak volumes and it sets our expectations very high.”
The body urged the new dean to run an open door policy and pay attention always to the welfare of students, saying embracing International Best Practices will enable him build on the legacies left by the immediate past Dean, Prof. Temi Akporhonor.
“The leaders of PGSAN and every Postgraduate student will contribute their own quota in seeing that you enjoy a smooth tenure,” the statement said.
PGSAN also urged the new Dean to play the role of a role model and a guide to the Association in order for them to do great things under his leadership.
His words: “Under the former dean, we carried out a few projects which he commissioned. We expect to do more of this under the new Dean.
“We did a signage/photo stand at the PG School. We also set up a research guide committee in every faculty with the sole aim of guiding and building students who will be proud researchers in and outside the university. We also call on the state government to support this initiative.”
Meanwhile, the students thanked the VC, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga for the choice of the new Dean, just as they applauded Akporhonor for his contributions while he served as Dean.
“We urge all students to rally round to support the new administration. God bless DELSU PG School,” the statement concluded.
