Engraved In Our Hearts: Agberen Reacts To Death Of Judith Omereyone

Comr.(Amb). Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator,
“No Justice, No Peace Initiative, has mourned the passing away of
Comrade Judith Omereyone, saying “she remains engraved in our hearts.”

In a statement on Wednesday, the rights activist, added: “On behalf of the Delta State Human Rights Community, It is with a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of God that, I announce the passing away of a beloved mother; Comrade Mama Judith Omereyone, who died after a brief illness, at the early hours of Monday morning, the 1st day of April, 2024. She is survived by children, grandchildren and other relatives.”

He continued: “Until her death, she was a well known trader at the Igbudu Market, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State and the Chairperson Magbeteri line, where she had also added her voices in advocating for the plights of the local traders in the market.”

He also described the deceased as one who was a dedicated member of Human Rights bodies, and a member of the Committee For The Defence of Human Rights(CDHR), Delta State Branch, where she had served in different capacities.

He continued: “Comrade Mama Judith, as she was popularly called, was a speaker of the truth, human rights defender and was never scared of expressing her feelings and stands in the law, on human rights violation cases, irrespective of other’s opinions and poor judgments.”

Agberen said “her death remains a big loss to the human rights community and the vulnerable people in the society, as she had played more roles as a mother figure to so many and the society at large.”

“Furthermore, Comrades and members of civil society organizations should endeavour to extend condolences to her family, as news concerning the burial arrangements would be brought to the notice of the public,” he said.

“Take moments to ponder about this:
