No Performing State Governor Will Join Another Political Party No Matter The Pressure –Agberen

National Coordinator, Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement (ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace,” Comr. (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, has said that “there’s no performing State Governor that will join another political party, no matter the pressure.”

He said this on Wednesday in a statement made available to Oasis Magazine.

He added: “No doubts, His Execellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has been the best of all Governors when it comes to infrastructural development, with notable awards from top-ranking TV networking communications and newspaper publishers, thanks to the singular decision he took, awarding one of the best roads/flyovers construction contracts in Nigeria today.

“For our dear Governor to defect to APC, I wonder what he was trying to put away or maybe sustain. Should I assume he failed when he did not, considering that he is nearly two years in office, or could state party politics be responsible for this new decision? Or could I say it was fear of the unknown breeze that may blow in the future, which warranted him to take refuge in the ruling party in Nigeria? We have seen situations in Nigeria where defection savaged a serving politician, but what happens when the opposition again sits on the wheel of power?”

According to him, the insecurity situation in Delta should also be an issue of concern for this administration, saying it is becoming worse by the day, adding: “Despite efforts from the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State, to curb the insecurity challenges, these sad occurrences keep resurfacing, which have made the people frequently ask if there is a government in Delta State and whether or not they care about the situation faced by residents and the indigenous populace.”

He asked: “Does it mean that the Nigeria Police Force Delta State Command isn’t doing enough to clamp down on the insecurity menace, including herdsmen attacks on farmers and villagers in our communities, kidnappings, armed robberies and related crimes?”

Comr. Agberen said that despite numerous police checkpoints where stop-and-search operations take place, this incident seems to suggest that nothing is being done.

“Or is it that they are mainly focused on young boys with flashy cars from whom they can extort money, or are they satisfied with collecting N100 from commercial motorists,” he asked.

He said further: “Fulani herdsmen are ravaging Delta State, kiłłing our fathers and mothers, making our children orphans. These are facts we cannot hide or sweep under the carpet, as they are getting closer to the people each day that passes by. The kídnäpping rate in Delta State has reached its peak, from Asaba to Ogwashi-Uku, from Ogwashi-Uku to Ughelli, Abraka, Ozoro; almost the whole communities in Delta State are affected, but the State Government is not doing anything to end this mess.

“Apart from issues of cultism ravaging some areas in State, which are effects from the State Government that could have been stitched in time either by gainful employment or radical youth’s engagement where the State Government has feigned itself from genuinely being impactful but focuses so much on its politics rather than the people it governs.

He called on the Delta State Government under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to accord paramount importance to the security and well-being of the indigenous populace and residents within the state, ensuring the safeguarding of lives and property, as this constitutes the fundamental objective of governance.

“The escalating insecurity challenges, which have transcended specific areas and are progressively spreading to other areas and communities across the state, necessitate prompt concern and attention from the government,” he concluded.
