Again, Kidnappers Abduct Three NRC Staff In Edo
The Egueben rail station in Edo state, again has recorded another kidnapping incident of three staff of the Nigerian railway corporation NRC and one other staff from a consulting company, Daily Sun can exclusively report.
The incident according to our reliable source, who is a senior Director in the NRC and prefers to speak in anonymity, informed that the kidnapping incident, happened about 17. 50 hrs Saturday 4, May, 2024 as the train headed towards Uromi to Warri in Delta State.
Recall, that the Egueben station on the 7th of January, 2023, recorded herdsmen attack at about 1600hrs, when an unspecified number of herdsmen armed with AK 47 riffles attacked the train station at Igueben, Edo State and kidnapped an unspecified number of passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri.
According to our source, the Nigerian Police are already in search of the daredevils.
He informed, that the embattled Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC management is also making frantic efforts to ensure that their staff and one other are released without any ransom paid.
Our source, however, alleges poor security measures put in place to provide security to passengers and government facilities.

He said, “Adequate security is a right to every Nigerian, and the government should do more and make it a priority. So the government must embark on this railway reform experience, it should be mindful of the fact that insecurity issues must be brought to an end to give credence to the project. We should not allow these criminals to always have their way and from the way the whole things are turning out, it looks like the information has not gotten to the Honourable Minister of Transportation yet,” he said.
As it stands, the Nigerian Railway Corporation NRC, is yet to issue a statement on the latest kidnapping incident before the filing of this report.
