By Ambrose Ologide
Organisation of School Owners of Nigeria ( OSON ) has commended and appreciated West African Examination Council ( WAEC ) for reopening of 2024 WASSCE (School Candidates) Registration portal.
This was contained in a statement issued by the National Secretary of OSON, Mr.Shadrack Ogbeifo, a lawyer made available to newsmen in Warri, Delta State on Tuesday, 30th April, 2024.
OSON in the statement noted that the reopening of the portal was an indication that WAEC is a listening external examination body that has companion for parents and students.
The statement noted that prior to the reopening of the portal, over fifty thousand Nigerian Final Year secondary school students were said to have been denied registration / enrollment for 2024 WASSCE and that parents / guardians affected were also in a delema.
“We at OSON are therefore grateful to WAEC for being humane for the reopening of the registration portal.

“The gesture has brought great relief to the affected students and their parents/guardians,” “the statement added.
It would be recalled that Organisation of School Owners of Nigeria (OSON) had in an open letter of appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dated 5th April, 2024, expressed fear that the alleged early closure of portal for registration/enrollment may adversely affect over fifty thousand Nigerian secondary school students.
OSON had complained that “we have received several complaints from huge numbers of Secondary Schools and Students nationwide, who are yet to complete their students enrollment.”
