Comr.(Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator,
Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement (ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace” has condemned the cult kiłłings in Olomu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recall that the said cult clash led to the death of over four(4) youths in the area.

Reacting, Agberen in a statement made available to Oasis Magazine, said “going by the rise in crime and insecurity in the State, it becomes so imperative for the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command and relevant agencies to swing into action to arrest the situation, preventing the matter from further escalating and brining suspected cult members to book.”

According to him, “in a society where over 85% of the youths are practising cultism, it calls for serious concerns and attention by the Government.”

He continued: “Also, we cannot exempt the facts that the challenges of cultism have its root causes in unemployment and poor parenting too. When the youths are neglected, they become idle and, consequently, are easily lured into cült activities, which later leads to crimes at the detriment of their future and national security.”

He noted: “This pandemic called cultism, which has claimed so many livés in the past and in recent times, is seriously spreading fast and should be stopped, using all possible means. Activities of cultism has gained more ground in various communities in the State, as they’ve failed in their responsibility, aiding and abäting these categories of persons, either as tools to politicians or for other dubious activities.”

His statement said further: “Through such medium created by these so-called community and political leaders, it has influenced the racketeering of firêärms for political thuggery, after which, they had failed to retrieve these firêärms, which in turns are used to commit other crimes.

“While, I am calling on the residents in Ughelli South, Community Leaders, Vigilante and Anti-Cult Groups, to work in synergy with the Police Divisions in the area to apprehend this situation; the Delta State Government should take into account, that there is a lot to be done, as it concerns youths engagements and empowerment schemes.”
